There is a person in almost every Indian business whose Friday evening looks like this: open the Razorpay dashboard, open Tally, and retype the week's payments one by one as receipt vouchers. Same amounts, same names, same GST math — copied by hand between two systems that refuse to talk to each other.
The strange part? Not one mainstream automation tool will post a voucher to Tally. Zapier won't. Make won't. Pabbly won't. Your books simply do not exist in their world.
Why cloud tools cannot see Tally
Tally is not a cloud app. It runs on a Windows PC in your shop or office — often not even connected to the internet beyond browsing. Cloud automation platforms can only call cloud APIs, and Tally's XML interface listens on localhost. From a datacenter in Frankfurt or Virginia, your Tally might as well not exist.
The answer is a bridge: a small agent installed on the same PC as Tally. It talks to Tally locally through its XML interface, and talks outward to your automation platform over a secure connection — nothing inbound, no port-forwarding, no exposing your books to the internet.
What the bridge unlocks
- Razorpay payment → Tally receipt. Money lands, a receipt voucher appears against the right ledger. The Friday-evening job disappears.
- New order → GST sales voucher. A Shopify or manual order becomes a sales entry with CGST/SGST/IGST split correctly — more on that in the GST invoice automation guide.
- Outstanding balances → reminder flows. The bridge can also read: fetch who owes what from Tally, and feed a WhatsApp reminder ladder for every unpaid bill.
How Yantra does it
Yantra ships a two-way Tally bridge: a small agent you install once on the Tally PC (a single script, from your dashboard's Tally settings), after which "Razorpay payment → Tally receipt" and "Order → Tally sales invoice with GST" are one-click templates. Commands queue safely — if the shop PC is off overnight, entries post when it wakes up; nothing is lost, nothing posts twice.
